NSW 120km North of Nyngan, 3hrs to Dubbo
Dubbo School of Distance Education Preschool
We live on a 13 000 hectare sheep and wheat property. Our two boys, 3 and 4 yrs old, are happy, active kids who love to play. Our eldest is inquisitive, has a great sense of humour and just loves being in the school room. Our youngest is a determined, gentle soul who communicates well. We enjoy routines, which makes things easier all round. We make attention to diet and health a priority for both boys. My husband’s parents live on the property also. We go to Nyngan weekly for sport and preschool. The farm is geographically isolated for day to day matters but 3 hours to Dubbo, population 40,000. |
on application, free board
yes | ||
Our recently renovated schoolroom is a pleasant place to be – it is light and airy and has Air Con and heating. We have kinder size desks and chairs, art supplies, cd player.. It overlooks the purpose-built kids’ garden with pool fence and gates, fort and cubby, sandpit, swings and easy access to toilet. The school room is adjacent to the laundry, which is handy for art work etc. There will be satellite internet in the schoolroom from 2009.
The
governess’ accommodation is a 6 x 3 m transportable building situated 10
metres from the kids’ garden. It has Air Con, heating, Fridge,
microwave, sink and is well furnished. You will not be required to
share the accommodation. Share bathroom and laundry. We have satellite
internet in the study and times for access to that can be negotiated.
Next G phones work here and weekly family phone call is encouraged. Bedding is supplied but you are welcome to bring your own. We have mains power with a back-up generator. |
This is a nanny/governess position. At present, Mum will be sharing the teaching duties but with only one on preschool, these are not onerous as the work does not take long.
When Mum is working in the paddock or off farm, you will need to take responsibility for care of the boys and maintain their routine. Your role will include implementing appropriate creative activities to stimulate the children and performing household tasks directly related to the provision of care for the children e.g. tidying schoolroom and play room, preparing and cleaning up after lunch for children. Your role will include attending school camps with mum and children in Dubbo, generally each term.
We are happy to be flexible with hours but generally it will be a 10 hour day, 5 days a week. Things are busier when we are shearing or doing other sheep work and during sowing or harvesting which may mean you are called on for some part of weekends then. This is not frequent.
We are looking for someone who will ideally become a respected friend to the children who will look up to you. You need to be organised, motivated, flexible and friendly and sincerely interested in the children’s well being – you need to enjoy children’s play and be able to participate in that. You should be able to communicate well, have sound literacy skills and use common sense. Non-smoker. Having your own car is desirable; 42 km dirt road.
Other requirements: Be a minimum of 18 yrs of age. You will need a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to get it upon commencement of employment. You will need a current first aid qualification. Complete a prohibited persons check. |

We are a busy household .I help my husband alot so I am looking after someone to teach the boys as well as answering the phone(if I am not at the house) as we have a goat business as well as the 2 properties. We love to have the boys with us so if we go away mustering we will take the Govy and our 2 boys with us to the job to be with us.If I am not at the house I would like the Govy to be smart and independant enough to feed and look after the boys needs for the day.,and maybe able to do the dishes after themselves and to be able to THINK for themselves.
You will need a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to get it upon commencement of employment. You will need a r First Aid Certificate. A car is essential. This person will have to be a GENUINE person who GENUINELY wants to be a Govy and really enjoy being with my 2 boys.Boys can fight at times but that is natural with kids,PLEASE understand that they are outgoing fun boys who really enjoy life. They have motorbikes and look after their own chooks as pocket money and often help us draught our goats,so they are very outdoors kids. My boys play sport on the weekends in Bourke and we enjoy our social life,we go water-skiing during the summer months and enjoy camping. We also enjoy playing tennis. Some times on weekends we may need your help if we go away musterring, and this can be made up with holidays at other times,it is negotiable but otherwise the weekends are ALL YOURS to enjoy. We are a happy family who love living out here and hope we find someone who can work with us.

Supervising work, correspondence and school of the air lessons /
Satellite lessons School hours 8.30am- 3.30pm. After the daily
work is finished the supervisor is to mark all work and to have it well
prepared for the next day's schooling. School work needs to be prepared
before school starts on Monday this in some case may take up to one hour
perhaps, beforehand. The work to be packed at the end of the 5 days and
a report on the subjects covered in the week sent to the teacher.
To keep the family informed of all school activities. This job would suit all ages, after school activities could include, fishing in the Darling River, bird watching, walking or if you were doing some external distance education studies, in need of a change governessing is a good option. We do pony club in the winter so some horse riding after school. |

Your
own car would be an advantage. Yes but not essential. Our road is suitable for a small car although if you were to visit the surrounding villages this might not be suitable as the red rocks and gravel roads are very hard on tyres You would need to have your First Aid Certificate current, and an ABN TFN and willing to obtain insurance through In Home Child Care |

We have 3 children. The eldest a girl is going to Boarding School next year. At home will be an 8 year old girl going into Year 3 and a boy just starting Kindergarten he turns 5 in January. We started Distance Ed at the beginning of Term 4 last Year when we moved to Bourke from the Goulburn area. We own a couple of property`s around the Cobar Nyngan area and we still have our place at Goulburn. My husband travels to these places regularly. I taught the children last term and learnt how Distance Ed worked.I did enjoy it though found that I had no time the help my husband . We are new to the Bourke area and have only been here since October. The children have settled into life here very easily and have made new friends quickly. We live half an hour out of Bourke, with only 13 Km of dirt road, we have a swimming pool that you are welcome to use. With our eldest child off to Boarding School in Toowoomba there will be occassions that we will need you to work a weekend for us. Our schoolroom is about 5 metres from the main house in its own building but within the garden fence. It has reverse cycle air conditioning is a large light room that is very well set up with new tables and chairs and plenty of cupboard space. The cupboard divides the room so the computer is slighty separate from the main room. The school house is about 30 metres from the Governesses Cottage. It has a reading corner with sofa a white board and comes with all materials needed for school.
