My husband and I manage a station south of Alice Springs. We have 3 boys
aged 8 months, 19 months and 2 years. We have up to 7 staff during the
year. |

room approx. 30m away from the homested. |

The Nanny’s accommodation is a 1 bedroom cottage situated 50m from the
homestead. It has a double bed, lounge room with tea and coffee making
facilities, bar fridge, lounge suite and t.v. I has its own bathroom as
well. The cottage has air conditioning and 24hr power. It was freshly
painted at the start of the year. |

The Nanny will be providing holistic care of the 3 boys, this includes
but not limited to playing, cooking, bathing, feeding and cleaning. The
nanny must feel confident in caring for 3 small children unsupervised. |

My husband and I manage a large cattle station on the
Barkly
Tableland, NT. We have two boys aged 4 and 2. During the season we
usually have approximately 18 permanent staff living on the station. We
are surrounded by many large company owned cattle stations. We try to
get to as many social events as possible, which may include Camooweal
Campdraft/Rodeo, Brunette Downs Races/Rodeo/Campdraft, Barkly Women's
Day (twice a year) playgroups in the area etc. |

Our children are not in school yet, however we do have a
schoolroom which is set up with the childrens toys and art and craft
materials. This is a separate, reverse cycle air-conditioned building
and is about 15 metres from the main house.

Accommodation is a single air-conditioned room in the
staff quarters (4 rooms with a large screened verandah, usually only 1
or 2 other people live in this building). You will have your own
bathroom and will share the laundry with any other staff living in this
building. There is a TV in your room. We on on 24 hour generator
power. The station kitchen has a TV with Austar connected. The staff
phone is located outside the kitchen and uses phonecards - which are
available for purchase. There is a staff computer connected to
satellite broadband for internet access. We also have a Canteen/Rec
Club that opens each afternoon selling drinks, chips, lollies and
personal items such as deoderant, washing powder, soap, toothpaste etc.
All meals will be taken in the station kitchen with the rest of the
staff where meals are prepared by our station cook.

This is a Nanny positon. You will be responsible for
the care of my 2 boys. The majority of this care would take place at our
house or the school room. We have a spacious air-conditioned home with
a large grassed garden area. You are to encourage their creativitiy
through art & craft, cooking, outdoor play, walks, reading etc. You
would also be responsible for preparing their smoko & lunch each day.
You will be required to do some light household duties such as keeping
the childrens rooms and play areas clean and tidy, making their beds (if
this has not already been done), cleaning up after lunch and smoko etc.
On a normal day your hours would be as follows: start 8am, lunch 12 noon
- 1:30pm, finish 5:30pm (this needs to be flexible)
We are looking for someone with a genuine love and understanding of
children. You will need patience and a caring attitute.

Expectations and Special Requirements |
|
|
We are looking for someone who is
FLEXIBLE and happy to fit in with the day to day happenings on a busy
cattle station. There may be times where you will be required to look
after the children all day and the odd occasion where we will require
you to stay overnight to care for the children (eg: if I need to do a
quick overnight trip to town or if I have to attend a course in town).
If we are going away or to town, we need someone who is happy to come
along and fit in with our plans.
We are looking for a well mannered, honest, fun, outgoing person with a
good sense of humour. Someone who is neat, tidy, well spoken, takes
pride in their appearance and someone who is very hygienic. Someone who
is firm and willing to continue the discipline of our children, I do not
expect you to tolerate unpleasant or rude behaviour and will support you
in the discipline of such behaviour. Bad manners are unacceptable.
You will need to be fit and healthy and happy to live in an isolated
area, a long way from anywhere!! The right person will be welcomed as
part of the family.
You will need a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to
get it upon commencement of employment.
Your own car would be an advantage, however we do have 190km of dirt
road so a small car may not be suitable.

Both our girls are very outgoing and at times very full on. They love being

We have 2-3 other staff, and a
mustering crew at different time here at the station. We also have
horses, dogs, and other assorted animals.

Staff also have their own common
area with TV, kitchen, dishwasher, lounge and phone. Staff have their
own laundry too.

with our family. We are on solar power so there is power 24/7.

Job Description |
For the first half of 2009 this is
a nanny position, though our eldest daughter does playgroup in a box 2 days a
week and loves doing arts and crafts. Mainly help out with the children when
required and make sure they are safe and happy. Help on town trips.
Once this position turns into a
governess position I will expect the duties to be: teaching daily
lessons, maintaining the school room- cleaning, class prep,ect) Outside
of the teaching duties I will only expect the occasional help from time
to time.
All staff wash up at the evening
meal, and clean staff laundry on a roster basis on Sundays.
