Remote Family Care Service (RFCS) requires a number of suitably
trained or experienced childcare staff to ensure quality care is
provided to all families. Travel to and from a placement is
arranged by the Coordinator. Most carer's work 4 to 6 weeks on and
have 1 to 2 weeks off. Remote Family Care Service operates in the
Emerald, Charleville, Longreach, Mount Isa and North Qld areas with
some travel into the Territory.
Remote Family Care Service (RFCS) provides families
with a carer for up to three weeks in any calendar year for
childcare. Care does not encompass household responsibilities such
as being a domestic, stationhand and the like. The family are
responsible for the safe pick up and return of the carer as well as
providing an acceptable standard of board and accommodation for the
duration of the placement. All carers are supplied with appropriate
early childhood resources contained in an extensive range of kit
boxes developed by the Coordination Unit, along with suitable craft
materials. This allows the carers to provide a range of age and
stage appropriate activities at each placement. We mainly cater for
children between 0-6 years however are also needed in the school
room with older children.
Carers must be aged over 18, hold a current drivers license, a Blue
Care and a current First Aid Certificate.
Experience in rural and remote areas is preferred.
The position is not only extremely rewarding but everyday is
likely to offer a new challenge or exciting experience!
We have 250 families in different
areas so this will differ from place to place however additional
information is supplied to the carer's before they head out to a
placement.
The carers role is primarily for childcare and does not encompass
household responsibilities however it is acknowledged that the carer
may undertake some household duties associated with meeting the
needs of children in their care in addition to those associated with
their lodging.
We realise that each family accessing the service has differing
needs to be met and in turn each carer has a differing approach such
as varying skills and specialities.
The following is a brief outline of
tasks that would be expected of each and every carer:
-
Children's meal preparation
-
Age and stage appropriate
activities for children
-
Bathing and dressing children
-
Supervising children's activities
-
Keeping children at home for the
day when Mum goes to town shopping, out mustering, or working in
the sheds etc
-
Entertaining younger children
whilst school work is caught up on
NT Home Tutor Register
The
Home Tutor Register (HTR) began in 1989-90, as a small service to our
ICPA Members within the Northern Territory. It's aim is to assist these
parents with the streamline of advertising costs and time, by short
listing the applicants, and to also provide a quick starting point for
those seeking an employee urgently.
This register is controlled and funded by the
Northern Territory ICPA Council. It is run voluntarily, and is
supported by the NT Government and donations.
Currently we are unable to find a register co-ordinator and so have
sourced Anna Brown Recruitment to find governesses for our members.
Please go to the link on our webpage for more about Anna Brown
Recruitment or find her own website at:
